Mary Fisher, our November Sister Spotlight

Mary was born in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, the town with a hospital nearest to Penn State University where her Dad was a professor and where she eventually went to school, too. She has a degree in Liberal Arts which she says has been a blessing throughout her life. Mary has six brothers and sisters and was Catholic until joining the church at age 21. At age 22 she served a mission in Spain. While there, her Dad retired and her parents moved to La Jolla. When Mary returned home she moved to San Diego and met her husband, 32 years ago in February.

Much of Mary's time these days revolves around family; helping her parents and 4 children as they need it. She also has one beautiful 2 year old granddaughter. Her favorite place in the whole world is home, both the earthly one and the home away from home, the temple. She says she is not always wide awake when there, but she knows that "she who attends the temple will have many more blessings and get much more done on that day." Her favorite hobby is sewing. She wishes she had a lot more time to sew, but she tries really hard to squeeze it in.

I asked Mary what she is looking forward to right now and she said; "I am looking forward to the rest of life.  I have never wanted to go backward.  Enduring to the end will be wonderful.  It will be like the end of the mission, except that isn't the end, it's the beginning..." What a lovely thing to remember. Thank you for letting us get to know you a little better Mary!
